This is another 3D Realms bug. In May 2022, a 2001 version of Duke Nukem Forever was leaked online. Then, earlier this month, we got the PREY 1995 version leaked. Now it’s time to get started with Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded, the Unreal Engine 3 remake of Duke Nukem 3D.
Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded started out as a fan project by Frederick Schreiber. The game was originally called Duke Nukem Next-Gen and was greenlit by Gearbox in October 2010. Then, in November 2010, the title was changed to Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded. However, the game was put on hold due to legal issues between Interceptor Entertainment and Gearbox Software.
The leaked version of Duke Nukem 3D: Reloaded is 4.8GB in size and you can download it here. This leaked build includes the editor, source code, and development assets. You can also find two of these gameplay clips below.
To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this remake. While still a WIP build, it fails to retain the art style of the original 2D sprites.
However, it will be interesting to see what modders do with the canceled game now that its source code has been leaked. Maybe someone will continue to work on the Interceptor, polish it up and release it. This would be cool.

Prior to founding DSOGaming, John worked for many gaming sites. Although he is an avid PC gamer, his gaming roots can be found on consoles. John loved and still loves 16-bit consoles and considers the SNES one of the best. However, the PC platform gave it an advantage over consoles. This is largely due to 3DFX and its proprietary 3D-accelerated Voodoo 2 graphics card. John also wrote a dissertation on “The Evolution of Computer Graphics”.
